It's been a busy few months in spite of everything!
I wanted to first write a tribute to the shows that were cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19 that I was working on or involved with, as a way to track these shows and hope they get to come to light someday again!
Macbeth by Cheyenne Mountain High School
I had just finished teaching students how to create light-up ghosts from packing tape that was to be the set for this piece that missed it's final staging.
Puerto Rican Nocturne by Theatre 'd Art
https://www.theatredart.org/ Mar 13th
I was helping with this as a techie for the Spanish subtitles, this closed right the day we were supposed to open. It's a beautiful original work that is available online at their website from their final dress rehearsal, donations encouraged!
Borders by the Millibo Art Theatre www.themat.org / April 9th
I had two puppet pieces I was creating for this show, a crankie and a light-up giant hand. I ended up using the pieces for the crankie for the 48 Hour Film Project with my light-up Ariel puppet: https://www.laguildofpuppetry.org/48hrpuppetfilms2020
The Vaudeville Experience at the Bug Theatre I had scheduled to perform with my puppet Bettina for this show, and was excited to work at the Bug Theatre in Denver. This show has been cancelled.
Xanadu by Just Like That! Entertainment https://justlikethat.net/ / June 4th I was cast in the ensemble for Just Like That -- we rehearsed a few weeks into isolation, where we were practicing singing, roller skating, and tap dancing from our living rooms over Zoom. We hope to perform this again
Colorado Renaissance Festival
https://coloradorenaissance.com/ June 12th This would have been my fifth year performing with my baby dragon puppet at the Colorado Renaissance Festival, definitely planning next year when it's safer!
Positively Her-Larious by the Clock Tower Cabaret / July 13th
Bettina Burlesque was scheduled to perform at this fun venue in Denver, we are hoping for a postponement when shows can safely be performed again, in this show featuring comedic women across Colorado.
Edinburgh Fringe Fest https://www.edfringe.com/ Aug 22
This was going to be my first year attending and performing at Edinburgh Fringe Fest, street performing with my baby dragon puppet and showcasing Bettina Burlesque at cabarets. We definitely hope to get the chance to do this next year!
Santa Fe Renaissance Fair https://golondrinas.org/festivals/santa-fe-renaissance-fair/ Sept 19
This was my sixth year performing in Santa Fe with my baby dragon puppet, and we definitely miss all the little dragon friends and hope to come again next year!
I know this is hitting the industry hard and we definitely appreciate both the efforts of the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Theater (https://www.culturaloffice.org/) and the Denver Actors Fund (www.denveractorsfund.org) in supporting the arts and artists across Colorado during this time.
